Team Turtles Tour voor het eerst bij de Larense Batten Rally
Dit jaar verwelkomt de Larense Batten Rally nóg een nieuw en enthousiast team: Turtles Tour, gevormd door Edwin en Anita Blom. Voor hen wordt het de allereerste deelname aan deze bijzondere rally, maar de liefde voor autorijden is er al langer. Het stel neemt regelmatig hun Donkervoort S8AT uit 1993 mee op tour door Europa, maar aan een rally deden ze niet eerder mee. “Nee, dit is onze eerste rally,” vertellen ze. “Maar we kijken er enorm naar uit om onze Donkervoort nu in een heel andere setting te rijden.”
Over hun motivatie voor deelname aan de rally zeggen zij: “Het is een heel frustrerende ziekte. Juist omdat het door één gen wordt veroorzaakt, zou je denken dat er sneller een oplossing zou moeten zijn. Maar doordat er zo relatief weinig kinderen zijn die deze ziekte krijgen, is het moeilijk om onderzoek te financieren.”
Juist dat maakt de Larense Batten Rally zo waardevol voor hen. “We kunnen op deze manier bijdragen aan de financiering van onderzoek, en de opzet van de rally ziet er bovendien prima uit,” aldus het team. Met die motivatie, hun enthousiasme en hun karakteristieke Donkervoort aan de start belooft Turtles Tour een prachtige toevoeging te worden aan deze editie.

This year, the Larense Batten Rally welcomes another new and enthusiastic team: Turtles Tour, formed by Edwin and Anita Blom. For them, it will be their very first time participating in this special rally, although their love for driving goes back much further. The couple regularly take their 1993 Donkervoort S8AT on touring trips across Europe, but they have never taken part in a rally before. “No, this is our first rally,” they say. “But we’re really looking forward to driving our Donkervoort in a completely different setting.”
Speaking about their motivation to join the rally, they explain: “It’s a very frustrating disease. Precisely because it is caused by a single gene, you would expect a solution to come more quickly. But because relatively few children are affected, it is difficult to secure funding for research.”
That is exactly what makes the Larense Batten Rally so valuable to them. “In this way, we can contribute to funding research, and the setup of the rally looks excellent as well,” the team adds. With their motivation, enthusiasm, and their distinctive Donkervoort at the starting line, Turtles Tour promises to be a wonderful addition to this year’s edition.
